Behind every mould complaint is a moisture mechanism — condensation on a cold surface, penetrating damp through a failed render or flashing, rising damp through a defective damp-proof course, a leak from plumbing or rainwater goods, or construction moisture trapped in a recently built or refurbished property. Treating the visible patch without identifying that mechanism guarantees recurrence.
